Helen Emily Neilson Abbott Reunited Helen Emily Neilson Abbott departed this life on May 8, 2009, following a poignant struggle with ALS. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 21, 1921 to Earl Harry and Rose Hill Neilson. She married Lawrence LeRoy Abbott on March 18, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Lawrence died April 14, 2004. Their marriage was blessed with two children: L. LeRoy (Jill) Abbott and Colleen Helen (Charles) Wright. She was a full-time mom and helped her husband run his business. She was a champion of anyone who was wronged and helped many people. Her love of cooking was enjoyed by many. She was active Latter-day Saint and served in many callings. Helen is survived by her children; seven grandchildren: Kim (Dave) Carter, Cory (Andrea) Abbott, Carin (Michael) Walker, Michele Jordan, Chris Wright, Craig (Cami) Wright, Cami (Ron) Walker; 15 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Trenton, Dustin, Chantel, Kylee, Miranda, Austin, Wade, Mitchell, Mille, Lexi, Ashley, Parker, Corbin and Kayla. She will be able to prepare her newest great-grandson for this life before his birth in August. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence Earl (Velda) Neilson and Walter Neilson, who died in infancy. She was also preceded by her brothers and sisters-in-law. The family sincerely thanks the entire staff of CareSource Residence for the excellent care, support and love they have shown both mom and us. They not only patiently and lovingly cared for mom, but became our friends. We will miss and remember them always. Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street. A viewing will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1-1:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
