Biography Adelaida "Helen" Crowder, 79, of Safford, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 2, 1932 in San Simon, AZ to Selso Flores and Apolinar Altamirano. Helen was a devoted Catholic, and served the church her entire life. She brought communion to many of the elderly in the church. She was an advocate for immigrants, and taught many English classes to immigrants, and was an advocate for the children for the Blackfoot Indian Reservation in Yakama Valley, WA. She loved to play bingo, crocheting, quilting, cooking, gardening, and the casino. She loved sports and hackling with her son about whos team was better. She was an avid Diamondbacks fan. She loved everyone and her door was open to everyone. She is survived by her son, David R. (Donna) Rocha of Roswell, NM; granddaughter Olivia Torres, of Roswell, NM; great grandchildren, Courteney Baca, and Brooklyn Torres, of Roswell, NM; brother, Pasqual (Dixie Lee) Flores of California; sister, Celia Villado of San Simon; nieces, Mary Lou (Les) Wolslagel of Willcox, Shoana Villado of Tucson; nephews, DJ (Kassy) Wolslagel of California, Oscar Villado, Jr. of San Simon, and Shane Villado of Tucson; Best friend, John Rhodes and his family; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Edward Lucero Officiating. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at St. Rose with Rosary being recited at 7 pm.
