Helen Lena Sorrells Farnsworth, 94, of Pima, passed into eternity on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Safford, Arizona. She was born May 26, 1923 in Globe, Arizona to Parker W. & Josephine Amsden Sorrells.
The family moved around while her father looked for work. Helens parents divorced when she was 4 years old so she went with her mother and sister to Miami, Arizona to live with her grandmother, Rachel. After her mother remarried to William Taylor, the family moved to the Safford area where she attended school and met the man who would become the love of her life.
She married her eternal companion, Douglas L. Farnsworth, on February 20, 1939. They were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple the following day, February 21, 1939. They had 68 and a hal years together before he passed away in 2007. Helen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Relief Society and Primary as a teacher, counselor and Primary President and as a ward librarian.
Helen is survived by her children; Marjorie (Peter) Mueller, Melvin (Billie) Farnsworth, Kenneth (Robin) Farnsworth and Debi (Dennis) Crapse, 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, her sister Luella (David) Knight and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Farnsworth, her daughter Shirley Farnsworth, her parents a sister and 2 brothers.
Services for Helen will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Pima Stake Center beginning with at viewing at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Newell Knight conducting. Helen will be laid to rest in the Pima Cemetery.
