Helen Bright Foltz, 89 of Safford passed away at her home on November 22, 2010. Helen was born in Camargo, Illinois and was educated in Camargo and Villa Grove, graduating from Villa Grove High School. In 1947, while working at a Drug Store, Helen began nurses training and graduated from Burnem City Hospital. In 1950 she moved to Arizona and obtained her first job with Dr. Williamson and Dr. Moon. Later Helen worked for Dr. Nelson for 6 years. Helen married Lewis Bright in 1950 and gave birth to David in 1954. After the birth of her son she went back to work at the old Safford Inn and later worked at the Phelps Dodge Hospital and at the Public Health Department. In 1960 Helen was widowed when her husband was killed in a vehicle accident in Humbolt. In 1974 she returned to the University of Arizona and enrolled in the first Practitioner class. After taking a year to obtain her license, Helen moved to St. Johns, AZ and ran a clinic there. In 1983 Helen retired from a clinic/Hospital in Kearney, AZ and married Merle Foltz. Helen will be remembered for the loving care she gave to her patients, friends and family. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Bright, husband, Merle Foltz and her son, David Bright. She is survived by grandchildren, Jason Bright, Jodi Merrick, great-grandchildren; Jacee, Nash, B. J., Taylor & Tymber and countless friends. Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Safford with viewing Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
