Lifetime Gila Valley resident Helen Rose Layton, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the age of 89.
Rose was born on August 1, 1933, in Pima, Arizona to Vivian Keturah Bryce & Earl Clayton Reynolds. Rose had one brother, Wilbur & one sister, Melba Earlene. Rose spent her childhood alongside her sibling. They went to elementary, junior high & high school in Pima.
Rose is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many leadership positions in the Church, including Young Women, Relief Society and Stake Relief Society President.
On September 18, 1949, she married the love of her life Delta Leon Layton. They were wed in Lordsburg, New Mexico. The loving couple had two children, Brenda & Brent.
A loving wife & mother, Rose passionately devoted her life to her family. This blessing would continue to blossom with the passing of time. Rose & Delta's home served as the beating heart of a vast family tree.
Rose's passing was preceded by her husband Delta, her parents Earl & Vivian Reynolds, her brother Wilbur Reynolds, her sister Melba Earlene & (brother-in-law) James Watson, Sr. & nephew James Watson, Jr.
Rose will deeply be missed & loved by her surviving family, Brenda (Jay) Colvin , Brent (Rhonda) Layton, her 8 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild & 1 great-great grandchild on the way. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & her beloved friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Safford Stake Center followed by the burial in the Pima Cemetery.
