Helen Franco Sonive, 73 of Safford passed away January 20, 2011. She was born in Thatcher and graduated from Safford High School. Helen married Tony Sonive right out of High School and the couple moved to California where Tony was stationed. Their home was always open to visiting family from the Gila Valley and enjoyed taking the family to Disneyland and other attractions. She was active in American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed a good game of Bingo. Helen moved back to the Gila Valley in 2007. Helen is survived by her children Michael Sonive, Teresa Sonive, granddaughter Sevena Sonive, sister Lupe Romero and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Felicia, son David, mother Manuela Palma Franco, sister Mercy Rodriguez, Lucia Paiz, sister Patricia Sigala and brother Joe Franco. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, January 26th at 10 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Thatcher Cemetery.
