Hermila Carbajal

May 3, 1918 — November 5, 2024

Hermila Carbajal, known fondly to all as a beacon of light and love, was born on May 3, 1918, in Mexico. She passed away peacefully in Safford, Arizona, on November 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with kindness, generosity, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of many.

Hermila was proud to have graduated from high school, but her real joy came from her life experiences. Working as a washer in a laundromat, she dedicated herself to her work and her community, always extending comfort and care to those around her. To her family and countless friends, Hermila was more than just a mother or grandmother; she was a mother figure to many, enveloping them in warmth and wisdom.

For 106 remarkable years, Hermila embraced life with a vibrant passion. Her hobbies included crocheting, making delicious food, gardening, and helping others. The sense of community she fostered will continue to resonate among those who were fortunate to know her. Going to church was also an integral part of her life, providing her with peace and connection.

Hermila was a proud mother to Elvia Fajardo and was blessed with five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and an astonishing fifty-two great-great-grandchildren. Each of her descendants carries a piece of her loving spirit, ensuring her memory will live on through generations. Hermila was also accompanied by her beloved pet, Chulo, who served as a constant companion and source of joy.

She is now reunited with her parents, Maria Luz Lopez and Jose Franco; her husband, Eugenio Carbajal; her son, Armando Franco; and her nineteen siblings, along with many nephews. They all hold a special place in the heart of Hermila, whose kind, loving, and giving nature will be forever cherished.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Hermila's extraordinary life at McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford, Arizona.
