Ida Brixey

April 26, 1918 — June 8, 2010

Frieda Roggman (Brixey) 1918 ~ 2010 Frieda Roggman (Brixey), lovely and huggable mother, grandmother, and dear friend, died at home on June 8, 2010 with her family present. She was born April 26, 1918 in Elkton, Michigan to Fred and Ida Heck Mangnus. After Idas death, when she was four, Frieda was raised by her aunts and grandma, but mostly her Aunt Maggie Heck in Saginaw, Michigan. On June 5, 1937 she married Herman Roggman, with whom she had two children, William in 1941 and Lori in 1952. They lived in Oscoda, Michigan, where Frieda owned a dress shop, until they moved to Logan, Utah in 1959. There, she made lifelong friends, led Loris Girl Scout troop, and was active in Lady Elks and a bowling league. Between 1965 and 1971, Herm and Frieda lived in California, Idaho, Pennsylvania, and Kansas before moving to Salt Lake City, where they could be near Bill and his wife, Ruth Coates Roggman. They enjoyed their four grandchildren, Brad and Brent Roggman and Rae and Mark Sailor. Frieda worked as a visiting home nurse, and they camped and partied with friends. After they retired, they traveled in their motorhome to all fifty states and all the Canadian provinces and often spent winters in Texas with Loris family. After Herm died in 1995, Frieda made many new friends at the Harman Home Senior Center, including Barney Brixey, whom she married on September 5, 2000, and acquired more children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Frieda is survived by her daughter, Lori (Mark Innocenti); daughter-in-law, Ruth; step-children: Michael (Kathy), Alfred (Barbara), Randy (Diane) Brixey, and Cheryl Broadhead; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Herm, Bill, and Barney preceded her in death. A funeral service will be held at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah on Friday, June 11 at 3:30 p.m. with a viewing held one hour prior. An open house at Friedas house in West Valley City will follow.
