Ike L. Hawkins, 62, of Brunswick, MO died at his home on April 18, 2012. He was retired from Phelps Dodge in Morenci, AZ, where he worked as a journeyman pipefitter. Ike was born in Morenci, AZ on August 10, 1949. He attended Thatcher High School until he entered the Army on January 23, 1967. He received his basic training, attended radio and communications school as well as cooking School, at Fort Ord, California. He served as a Cook during his tour in Korea from August 1967 until September 1968. The rest of his service was spent at Fort Bragg, North Carolina until he was honorably discharged in January 1970. Ike spent most of his retirement in Arizona where he loved to hunt arrowheads and Indian artifacts and made many trips to Eagle Creek. He moved to Missouri in 2002 when his first grandson, Matthew, was born. His grandkids soon became his entire world. Survivors include 1 son Isaac Lige Hawkins and wife Kelly; 1 daughter, Jessica Grissom and husband Chance; 2 brothers, Wes Hawkins and wife Gay, Dan Hawkins and wife Lynette; 3 Grandsons, Matthew Hawkins, Levi Grissom, and Bash Grissom; and 1 Granddaughter Lanie Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his father Ike P. Hawkins, his mother Elaine Hawkins, and an infant daughter Patricia Elaine Hawkins. There will be a graveside service at 11 a. m. on Saturday, April 28 at Thatcher Cemetery.
