Ina Gable

Ina Gable, 96, of Safford, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 in Tucson. She was born on June 14, 1919 in Weatherford, TX, to Albert and Mamie Thompson. She married Joe Gable on August 2, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Joe passed away on March 25, 2005. Ina was a very accomplished person. She attended and graduated from the Gila Jr. College in Thatcher. She took advantage of every opportunity to learn, and while in college volunteered to take pilot training in the cadet program during WWII. She worked for the Graham County Electric Co-op, she worked in a medical office, and many federal and county jobs. She was a good seamstress, and painter and artist. Ina had talent, grit, and determination. The family very much appreciated the assistance and love many of you gave to Ina, which enabled her to remain in her own home. She suffered with severe memory loss. Ina is survived by her son, Steven and his friend Bev; her sister Joyce Ford, sister-in-laws, Judy Thompson, Norma Gable, Helen Hawkins, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; daughter, Jo Jean;, siblings, Leonard, Jerry, Letha, Era, Doris, Tollie, Gay, and Eldon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 East Main Street, Safford, AZ, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Thatcher Cemetery. Family suggest donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
