Isaac J. High, 65, of Safford, AZ, passed away August 2, 2011. Isaac was born in San Angelo, TX, on September 10, 1956 to Rosetta Barnes and James Henry High. His parents moved to Safford, AZ, in 1956. Isaac graduated from Safford High School and then attended Eastern Arizona College, in Thatcher, AZ. Isaac became a carpenter and found a great love for it. He worked in the carpentry field for 30 years before retiring; he then became a truck driver. Isaac moved to California and married Shirley Green-High. No children were born to this union. Isaac loved to cook and barbeque but most of all he loved watching people eat his food. He would wait for about 5 minutes for you to tell him how good it was and then hed TELL you how good it was. He loved to play cards, dominos and dance. He loved to laugh and talk. His passion was fishing and hunting, these things he did to relax. Isaac moved back to Safford in 2009. He always said Safford is where he wanted to live when he retired. Once there he joined the Pilgrim Star Baptist Church and along with that he joined the choir and did his thing. He really enjoyed singing in the choir. He is survived by his wife, Shirley High, of Perris, CA, sister, Ella Mae St. Hilaire, of Safford, AZ, brother, Farris High, of Wisconsin, Aunts; Mary Graham, of Eden, AZ, Murnike Hayes, of Safford, AZ, Uncle Luther Barnes, of Bakersfield, CA, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Isaac is preceded in death by his parents; James and Rosetta High, step-father, Archie Strong, sister, Jannie High Henderson, brothers; John Robert, James Jr., and Harold Lee High. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at New Life City Church in Safford. Friends may call on prior to services from 9- 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
