Ivy Alvarez Ramirez, 73, passed away February 17, 2018 in Thatcher, Az. Ivy was born May 19, 1944 in Morenci, Arizona to Alfredo "Frenchy" and Elvira Alvarez joining Irene, Alfred, Ronnie, Pearl, Christopher, and Annabelle.
She attended schools in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School in 1962. After graduation, Ivy married David Ramirez on July 16, 1963 in Graham County. The family grew with each new addition; Christopher, Eva, Vera, Catherine, Patrick and Krista. Ivy was a wonderful homemaker, taking pride in her children and her home. She was known for her good cooking and salsas! Also, she enjoyed doing crafts, shopping, her good taste for fashion, dancing, gambling, her love of music and her ability to decorate well.
Ivy was full of life, spunky, protective and outgoing. She was the life of the party and quite the social butterfly with a very witty personality. She was also strong willed and outspoken but very funny. She lived life to the fullest and was a joy to be around. One of her favorite sayings was "never say goodbye, just say see you later".
Ivy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David Ramirez, her children; Christopher (Shawn) Ramirez, Eva (Jimmy) Castaneda, Vera Ramirez, Catherine (Jack) Perdue, Patrick (Denise) Ramirez and Krista (Daniel Carr) Ramirez, her siblings; Alfred (Margret) Alvarez, Pearl (Danny) Moran, Ronnie Alvarez and Christopher (Leah) Alvarez, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Elvira Alvarez, her sisters Irene Alvarez and Annabelle Navarrete and her nephew Robert "Bobby" Navarrete.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clifton, AZ with Father Nathaniel Mma as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery following services.
