Jacquelynn Elmer

October 20, 1935 — May 25, 2017

Jacquelynn Jean Leonard Elmer, 81, completed her earthly visit on May 25, 2017, after battling cancer for nine years without complaint. The daughter of Jasper "Jack" David Leonard and Jean Dortheia Bryce, Jacquelynn married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Derrell Elmer, in the St. George Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - a marriage that lasted 63 years. Jacquelynn, an outgoing, vibrant person, never met a stranger and loved to have fun. She willingly shared her love of music and cooking and particularly enjoyed shopping with family and friends. Someone who loved her garden and caring for her flowers and plants, she was very popular with the neighborhood birds, continually supplying them with food. She loved watching them out the window or sitting on the patio, keeping a watchful eye on the hummingbirds that loved to hover around her flowers. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed making anything from doll clothes to baby blankets as well as dresses, shirts, and quilts for her family and friends to enjoy. A not-so-secret, guilty pleasure that Jacquelynn enjoyed was her stash of Hershey's Kisses, for which she religiously observed her "rule of three" -- one always had to have three. Jacquelynn loved her church, the gospel and the Lord. She served her church through many callings throughout her life and found joy in her service. A kind and generous woman who loved her family, she enjoyed every opportunity she had to be with them. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Derrell Elmer, her three children Santry Elmer, Jeanne (Dan) Cybulski, and Kristi (Brady) Belliston, as well as 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two siblings, Brooks Leonard and Gaye Norton. She brought a wonderful light to the lives of those around her. While she will be terribly missed, we find comfort in her long-awaited reunion "somewhere over the rainbow" with her Father in Heaven, and her mother, grandmother and other loved ones who preceded her in death. Her life was a wonderful adventure, one which we have been lucky to be a part. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness, commitment and tenacity of all who helped care for her from the Mayo Clinic and Hospice of the Valley. With gratitude, we thank you for your dedication and compassion. Funeral services will be conducted at the LDS Biltmore Ward, 1835 E Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85016 on Tuesday, May 30th at 11:00 am followed by a graveside service at the Bryce Cemetery.
