Jake P. Matthews You will forever remain in our hearts Jake Patrick Matthews passed away November 27, 2007 at the young age of 25. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 17, 1982 to Lynn A. and Cheryl McBride Matthews. He served during the Iraq war as a Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division where he saw extensive action. Jake grew up in Murrieta, California where he was loved by many and will be deeply missed. In February of 2007, Jake moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah. He was Vice President of J.D. Matthews Construction Company, an underground pipeline company, that he and his much-loved Uncle Dave Matthews started in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jake was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. His kindness, generosity and giving nature will never be forgotten. With Jakes passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him every day, especially his gentle smile and warm, strong bear hugs. His life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quality of time of which one lives. He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Lynn, whom he loved, respected, and deeply cherished; loving grandfather, Gene Matthews. Survived by his mother, Cheryl, who was his guiding light and tower of strength; sisters: Brynn (Anthony), Brittanie (Sean); grandmothers: Vi McBride and June Matthews; second mothers, Karen Bone, Shauna (Ric) Morley, Shannon McBride (Daralee & Aydan James); and many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2007, 3:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
