James Newell Denton, 73 of Duncan passed away January 12, 2014 in Tucson. James was born July 26, 1940 in Morenci, Arizona to Newell James and Dorcas Ruth Sloan Denton. Before retiring James worked as an electrical foreman and in his spare time he enjoyed coin collecting, traveling and being with his family. James was a member of the Elks Lodge and was proud of many things including; earning his Eagle Scout, being named Elk of the Year 2001-2002 and a Distinguished Citizen in 2009. James is survived by his children; Bunny (Jimmy) Galvin of Duncan, James (Theresa) Denton of Nevada, and Paula (Dave) Trampp of Missouri; siblings, Margaret (Jasper) French of Duncan, Mike (Myra) Denton of Phoenix, and Charlie (Lorraine) Denton of Flagstaff; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. Memorial Services will be conducted Friday, January 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge No. 1607 in Safford. Contributions can be made to the Elks National Foundation in memory of James Newell Denton.
