Janell Kempton Palmer of Safford, Arizona passed away on February 13, 2024.
Janell was born May 3, 1931 to Calvin and Hermione Kempton in Safford, Arizona. Raised in the Gila Valley, she graduated from Safford High and attended Eastern Arizona College. Janell was an outstanding student. While in high school, Janell met Bill Palmer, they fell in love, later married and together welcomed six children; Mike (Wendy) Palmer, Buff (Michael) Berg, Rett (Karen) Palmer, Robert Palmer, Clip (Jana) Palmer and Calee Ranger.
Janell is the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who she dearly loved along with her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janell and Bill moved their family to Scottsdale in 1960 where it continued to grow. She resided in Scottsdale for the next 25 years. Always a hard worker, she became an accomplished Realtor.
In her later years Janell returned to Safford and was employed by the Gila Valley Irrigation District. She loved her association with her wonderful colleagues and local farmers. Upon retirement, Janell lovingly cared for her mother and enjoyed her home, family, friends and community. She loved her view of the Graham Mountains and kept her gardens filled with beautiful flowers, plants and trees.
Janell was a faithful member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she served in many callings and positions, including Ordinance Worker in The Gila Valley Temple.
Janell will be remembered as a warm, loving soul. Her charm, laughter and smile could light up a room! Known for her determination and independence, she lived by the quote "Come what may and love it!"
Janell is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kent, Jerry and Gipp.
A public viewing will be held Friday, February 23 6-8 PM McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 E Main Street, Safford. Funeral Services for Janell will be Saturday, February 24th beginning with a 10-10:45 AM viewing, followed by an 11:00 AM Funeral at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints Solomonville Ward, 2249 S Stevens Ave, Solomon. Internment, Safford City Cemetery.
