Jayne Kernene 1939 ~ 2009 Our mother and grandmother, Jayne Ellen Clodfelter Burke Kernene, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Born December 28, 1939 to Clell Batten Clodfelter and Annie Caroline Leonard Clodfelter, in Davidson County, NC. She received her BS degree in Music and English at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. Jayne loved drama, the Performing Arts, and singing in choral groups, and briefly worked as an actress at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. She was adventurous, creative, artistic, kind, understanding, and enthusiastic in all she did, and loved to laugh. Jayne married Darryl J. Burke in 1966; deceased. She married Donald C. Kernene in 1985, who preceded her in death in 2001. Jayne later received her 2nd BS degree from the U of U in Middle Eastern Studies, spoke fluent Hebrew and German. She taught music and band, and was a truly great educator who loved to learn, and loved her students. As a member of the LDS church, Jayne only saw the good in people, and had a profound respect for all religions. She is survived by Adrienne (John), Bonnie (Max), Cathy and Ian; grandchildren: Tristan, Lauren, Alyssa, April-May, Austin, Jessica, and Erin. A gathering will be held Monday, November 2, 2009, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home 4330 South Redwood Road, where a short service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
