Jean Carlin, formally from Pima, passed away in Tucson May 30, 2010. Jean, a Tucson resident, was a retired social worker. After receiving her masters in social work from ASU, Jean served as an advocate for homeless veterans; later she provided support for children and families. She was very skilled in her profession and her strong sense of compassion had a lasting, positive impact on the lives of many of her clients. Those who knew her well, recognize this as her legacy. She fought a life-long battle from diabetes, but didnt let the disease limit her life. She enjoyed many activities such as archeology, baseball, and nature. She was an accomplished artist. Among other media, she mastered the art of basketry, jewelry making, and quilting. Jean is survived by her husband, Chuck Russell from Tucson, her mother, Hazel from Pima, and her brothers; Paul, Donald, and George. Jean was preceded in death by her son, James and her father, George. Funeral services are planned for Tucson with a memorial and inurnment service to be held in Pima on June 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Pima Cemetery.
