Jerald Randall

April 6, 1944 — August 4, 2023

Jerald Wayne Randall “Butch” April 6, 1944 – August 4, 2023 Jerald was born April 6th, 1944 in Morenci, Arizona to Anson and Cruz Randall. He was the fourth and final child of their family. He spent his first four years in Grants, New Mexico, then the family moved back to Clifton. He lost his father the next year. He attended school in Clifton and met his wife Shirley (Quinn) when he was 18. They were married shortly after, on February 29th, 1964. They welcomed their first child, Karen, the next year, followed soon by Sandra, Robert, and Kimberly. Jerald became the Greenlee County Assessor in 1970 and held that office until 1976. He then became a Law enforcement officer, first for the town of Duncan, then as a deputy for Greenlee County. He worked there until he decided he’d rather be a diesel mechanic for Phelps Dodge. In 1983 he went on strike and soon after became a corrections officer for the Arizona State Prison System where he worked until he retired in 2001. He enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time at the river with his family, and taking his herd of dogs for walks in the desert. He was also a gifted craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and remodeling his home, and even built an entire home for one of his children. He made sure most of his grandchildren received a handcrafted hope chest for their 8th-grade promotion. He was also an excellent mechanic, forever tinkering with his collection of vehicles. He was proceeded in death by his father Anson (1949), his brother Ricardo (1960), his sister Adelaide “Norma” (1991), his mother Cruz (2010), and his sister Yolanda (2013). He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley, children Karen Robledo, Sandra Lundeen (Dale), Robert Randall (Diosdada), and Kimberly Grigsby (Jeffery), and 12 grandchildren Tyler Lundeen (Krista), Ashley Crandell (Mark), Cheryl Graham-Best (Ryan), Caitlin Young, Shelby Hernandez (Pedro), Michael Lopez (Andrea), Chelsea Olson (Nick), Stephanie Lopez (Austin), Kyra Grigsby, Emily Lockridge (Timothy), RJ Randall and Nayumi Randall. He had a wonderful bunch of 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. And lastly, he would be upset if we didn’t mention the many dogs and cats that he treated as children. After fighting a long battle with cancer, Jerald passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2023 with his wife Shirley by his side. At Jerald’s request, there will be no services, as he desired only a small memorial with his close family members.
