Jesse Hogge

April 13, 1916 — December 2, 2009

Jesse Norman Hogge 1916 ~ 2009 Jesse Norman Hogge was born in Morgan, Utah to Charles and Mary Ellen Vincent Hogge. He died peacefully on December 2, 2009 Jesse grew up in Morgan and Salt Lake City. He graduated from South High School. He married Fay Goodfellow in 1935. She passed away. He married Phyllis Fuller in 1941. They lived in South Salt Lake for many years. They later bought some land in South Jordan and Jesse built a house from the ground up, by himself. When he retired from his work through the Pipefitters Local No. 57, he was then able to spend his time doing what he loved to do, gardening and yardwork. He raised many animals on his mini-farm, as he loved animals, and always had a dog as a companion. Jesse went to work when he was sixteen for Mountain Fuel and worked there off and on for 15 years. He later went to work as a pipefitter, and this was his vocation for 30 years. Jesse was a hard worker and was skilled at doing many things: carpenter work, masonry, and could fix anything that needed fixing. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled his church callings diligently. He is survived by his wife Phyllis and his children: Terry, Kenneth (Judy) and Kim (LuAnn) Hogge and Ellen (Wally) Vlasick, Laurie (Edward) Hall, Deena (Evan) Penrod and Janet Wilson. He has 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his six siblings. He will be missed by his wife of 68 years, his children and grandchildren. Graveside services will be Monday, December 7, 2009, 12:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East. A viewing will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Humane Society of Utah.
