Jewel Forrister

September 1, 1921 — February 18, 2012

Jewel "Judy" B. Forrister, 90, of Central, entered into rest on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at her home in Thatcher. Judy was born on September 1, 1921 in Point, TX, to Eva Bailey Belcher and Ulysess Grant Belcher. She grew up in Mineola and Lindale and attended school there. She married Russell Truitt Forrister on July 22, 1939 in Wood County, TX. They made their home in Mineola for a short time and Russell went to work for a construction company. They moved around quite a bit before Russell joined the U.S. Army. She lived in Mineola with her son until Russell returned from the war in 1946. They then moved to El Paso, TX and lived there for approximately 20 years. Judy worked as a bookkeeper for Lone Star Gin Company, and Cashier for the Chicago Trading Post for five years. They move to Arizona in 1970. Judy worked for Gila Laundry, and then for Gila Co-op Gin Co. for several years, and then for Liberty Gin Company in Buckeye. Judy truly found her niche when she became dietary supervisor at Mountain View Care Center. She loved to cook and take care of everyone; she formed relationships which became extended family. Judy was also a homemaker; she liked to sew, cook, and to go fishing. She was a member of the Eastern Star Ocotillo Chapter. Judy and Russ had two children, Truitt Ray (Karen) Forrister of Amarillo, TX, and Cathey Sue (Matt) Angleton of Thatcher, AZ. Four grandchildren, Russell Lee (Margie) Forrister, Truett Ray (Jenny) Forrister, Joshua James (Allyssa) Grimes, and Judith Eve Freestone and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell, of 52 years, who passed away on March 22, 1992.
