James Joseph Jim Garrett, 56, of Safford, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Tucson. He was born on April 7, 1956 in Woodbury, NJ, to George Burlingame Garrett, II, and Catherine Veronica McGuigan Garrett. He married Kathryn Jean Hoffman, on July 8, 1989. Jim grew up in Woodbury, NJ, and graduated from West Deptford High School, he attended two years of college. After college Jim joined AA and NA, became clean and dedicated his life as a sponsor for many people struggling with addictions. He worked for Aramark Food Industries as a cook and managed an account for them. In 2001 Jim moved to Safford and started a career as an exterminator for Crisler Pest Control. Jim loved spending time with his family. He was a proud father and husband; he would spend all his free time with his girls, supporting all their dreams. Jim was an avid sports fan, cheering for all his Philadelphia Teams, Go Eagles! He is survived by his wife Kathryn Garrett of Safford; daughters, Sara (Donald) Kooy of Alamagordo, NM, and Julie Garrett of Safford; siblings, Kathleen (Tony) Jeanette of Collingswood, NJ, George B. (Tammy) Shippenburg, PA, Nancy (Douglas) Hercus of Delaware, and David Garrett of Shippensburg, PA; granddaughter, Lily Ann Kooy. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as Celebrant. Viewing will be Thursday, from 9- 11 a.m. at St. Rose with Rosary being recited at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery. Family would like to invite all to a luncheon at the United Methodist Church immediately after the Interment, on the corner of 10th Ave and 10th Street, Safford.
