Jimmy Gene Hill, born on March 13, 1968, in Pekin Illinois, quietly passed away on December 3, 2024, in Safford, Arizona. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose life was one of hard work, honesty, and daring spirit.
Jimmy dedicated a significant part of his career to Phelps Dodge working in the Hydro Mat (SX), where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He embraced every challenge with a smile, often lightening the mood with his great sense of humor. Those who knew him best will remember the playful phrases he often used, like "Stinky Rumpus" and "Da Bears," which became a signature part of his engaging personality.
A proud alumnus of Thatcher High School, Jimmy's life was filled with cherished memories made with his family. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with loved ones, instilling in his family an appreciation for nature and adventure. His proudest accomplishments included marrying his beloved wife, Diane Gonzales, on July 17, 1992, and watching his family grow as he became a father and later a grandfather.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted spouse, Diane Hill; his parents Ron and Diane Barnes; his children, Chelsea Hill, Jaime (Tito) Carrillo, Zack (Krisha) Dominguez; his brothers, Brad (Shannon) Duderstadt and Jason (Bobbie) Hill; his sister, Elizabeth Barnes; and a legacy that includes 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Jimmy also left behind his beloved pet Layla. Jimmy cherished each moment spent with them, imparting his values and sense of joy.
Jimmy’s journey was not without its struggles. He could be stubborn at times, a trait that added to his endearing and complex personality. His family and friends will forever remember his unwavering love and the laughter he brought into their lives.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Brown, his father-in-law, Ray Gonzales, and his nieces, Surey Barnes and Malaia Torrio. Their memories continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to honor Jimmy's life will be held on December 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 E Main St, Safford, Arizona. As we gather to celebrate the life of such a remarkable man, we hold close the memories of his laughter, his love, and his indomitable spirit. He will forever remain in our hearts.
