JoAnne B. Lopez

May 27, 1944 — February 12, 2025

Tucson, Arizona

JoAnne Lopez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on May 27, 1944, in San Pedro, California. She passed away on February 12, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and resilience that will eternally echo in the hearts of those who knew her.

A proud graduate of Safford High School in 1964 and a student at Chaparral Business College, JoAnne epitomized the hardworking spirit that defined her career as a Medical Office Manager. Her feisty and strong-willed nature made her a remarkable leader, always ready to lend a helping hand. JoAnne was known for her infectious laugh and her loving, generous heart. She embodied selflessness, consistently putting others first, and creating deep, lasting connections with everyone she met.

JoAnne's life was filled with joyful moments that she cherished deeply, especially those with her family. Among her proudest accomplishments were marrying her beloved Raymond C. Lopez on July 4, 1964, and celebrating the births of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the proud mother of Marti (Andrew) Romero, Ray Lopez, Jr., Michelle Hemmo, Michael (Gina) Lopez, and Melissa (Eric) Knight. JoAnne was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

JoAnne's passion extended beyond her professional life; she indulged in hobbies such as ceramics, sewing, baking, and traveling, pouring her love and creativity into every endeavor. A member of the Cursillista, she found strength and community in her faith, enriching her spiritual journey while inspiring others around her with her positive outlook on life. She often reminded her loved ones to embrace the uncertain future with her cherished motto, "Que Sera, Que Sera" (whatever will be will be).

JoAnne is survived by her loving children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her dear brother Jim Mar. She joins her late mother, Bentura Bailon-Johnson; father, Joseph Gerald MacDonald; Pila Gonzales; and brother, Joe Gonzales, in eternal rest.

As we gather to celebrate JoAnne's remarkable life, we are reminded of the light she brought into our world. Her resilience, love, and laughter will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to guide us all.
