John Harrison Barrick, born on March 18, 1945, in Ajo, Arizona, bid farewell to this world on June 26, 2024, in Pima, Arizona. He was a distinguished man with a very dry sense of humor who an indelible mark on everyone he met.
His journey through life was one defined by work and dedication. He pursued his education at Ajo High School, graduating with the Class of '63, and later continued his studies at the University of Arizona. John went on to have a successful career at Phelps Dodge, where he worked as the Superintendent of Drilling and Blasting.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John's true joy came from spending time with his family and teaching his grandkids. He was a loving husband to Glenda Barrick and a devoted father to their children: Tom Barrick (Tracey), Kerry Ryder (John), Mandy Barrick, Tim Richins (Cindy), Dondi Spivec (Wayne), Traci Lovett (Bryan), Kristi Porter (Justin), Scott Richins (Jessica), Kelli Adkins (Stewart), and sibling Suzanne Crews. In addition John leaves behind a legacy through his 35 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
His parents John and Mary Barrick, first wife Susie, and grandson Marvin have welcomed him with open arms into eternal peace.
John's hobbies reflected his love for the outdoors - from exploring nature and photographing its beauty to gardening and landscaping. He found solace in riding his side by side and enjoyed activities like hunting, fishing, and spending time with loved ones - including his faithful furry companion Gabby.
A man of resilience, one of John faced cancer with unwavering strength for almost 19 years. His courage inspired all who knew him.
John Harrison Barrick's departure from this world occurred as he was surrounded by his loving family at home, reflecting the deep bonds he shared with those closest to him. His memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and love.
