John J. Jurkofsky JR. of Safford AZ, passed away on March 29, 2018 at the age of 75. John was born on June 18, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA to John Joseph and Anna Galdo Jurkofsky.
John learned his trade as an electrician from his father and eventually ran his own electrical contracting business. He met his wife Joyce in Egypt where both were participating in a trip dedicated to Individual and World Peace through Peace Theological Seminary and School of Philosophy. John and Joyce began sharing their life in Philadelphia in 1996 and married in December 18, 2007. They moved to Safford AZ in 2014.
Though beset by his own struggle with dementia, John volunteered at the Our Neighbors Farm and Pantry where many expressed their appreciation of John's caring service and his taking the time to walk people to their cars and share a few words. He was also an active participant at United Methodist Church Sunday school where often, fellow participants expressed their appreciation of John's light and love and different perspective on spiritual topics.
Many in the Safford community have expressed their appreciation of John's strength through adversity and have commented on his kindness and gentleness. He embodied the meaning of what it is to be present. He lives on in our hearts and his kind eyes will forever be remembered.
John is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Evans; his siblings Joanne, Joseph, and Terri; his children David, Michele, Amy, Arian; and his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Anne Jurkofsky, his brother Paul, and his daughter Amanda.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 1020 S. 10th Avenue in Safford.
