John Mead Maxon was born April 4, 1954 in Barrington, IL. He entered into eternal rest with our Lord, Jesus Christ on August 9, 2014, after a lengthy illness. John was reared in Tucson, AZ, where his father, Norman, was the architect, engineer and original developer of the town of Green Valley, AZ. John spent much of his youth and early adulthood as an avid sportsman throughout the western states. This was a major impetus in his pursuit of a career in the United States Forest Service. He joined the USFS shortly after graduating from Salpointe High School in Tucson. He married Julie Reneri of Chicago, IL and of this union his son Justin was born. They were transferred from Williams, AZ to the Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California. John worked there for a number of years until he medically retired. John is survived by his mother, Catherine Maxon of Safford; his son, Justin Maxon of Eureka, CA, his sister; Mary Bunch of Safford, AZ and his brothers; Norman P. (Ellen) Maxon of Reno, NV, Michael Maxon of Phoenix, AZ, Greg (Linda) Maxon of Phoenix, AZ, Dr, Martin (Cindy) Maxon of Safford, AZ and Reverend Father Mark Maxon of Bakersfield, CA. He was preceded in death by his father; Norman M. Maxon and his brother; Thomas C. Maxon. A Rosary will be led by Reverend Father Mark Maxon at 10:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Solomon, AZ. Interment will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
