Jose Carrasco

September 8, 1933 — January 8, 2018

Jose DeLaLuz Carrasco was born on September 8, 1933 in Presidio, Texas. He was the 9th of 10 children. He moved to Las Cruzes, New Mexico in 1943. He then came to Solomon, Arizona in 1951, where he met the love of his life, Nadine Polanco. They were marred in September 23, 1952 and had 9 beautiful children; Lenny, Clara, Weda, Cyndi & Marcello Arbizo, Albert & Molly, Danny, Lencho & Sandra, Oscar & Connie and Paul & Rebecca. Out of these 9 children there came 34 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, a grand total of 162 family members. Jose loved hunting, fishing, camping and any other outdoor activities, but most of all, he loved singing at weddings, birthday parties and any social gathering with friends and family. Those who heard him knew he sang like Vicente Fernandez, he resembled him a lot also. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and then worked at Welker Ranch taking care of cattle. He then went to work for the City of Safford. After leaving the City of Safford, he became a union construction worker. After retiring from construction, he went to work for Phelps Dodge where he retired in 1995. After retirement, Jose along with Nadine, loved to travel and visit family and friends and stopping at casinos when they had a chance. He was a very loving person. His face would glow when his children and grandchildren would show up to visit. He sang a special song to all his grandkids. He would give his grandkids anything they wanted and would tell them they weren't spoiled, they were loved. Although he will be deeply missed, he is now smiling down on us because he is with the love of his life, Nadine. He will be in our hearts forever. We love you dad! A viewing & Rosary will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 beginning at 8:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Robert Rodriguez as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery following services.
