Jose Loya "Titi" Castaneda, 78, of Clifton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford.
He was born on October 11, 1933, in Metcalf, AZ, to Jose Castaneda and Sophia Loya Castaneda. He attended Clifton High School's graduating class of 1953. Soon after graduation he went to work for Phelps Dodge Corp., retiring in 1984 after 29 years of service. He married Alice Rodriguez in 1957 and together they raised five children.
Jose was a loving, devoted husband and father who enjoyed being with his family. He especially enjoyed cook-outs, holidays, and birthday celebrations. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sports on TV.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Beneficio Propio Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Alicia Castaneda of Clifton; two sons, Joseph (Jolene) Castaneda of Clifton, and Jimmy (Eva) Castaneda of Phoenix; three daughters, Genny (Larry) Serna of Clifton, Rose (Tony Ontiveros) Alvarez of Clifton, and Laura (Michael) Dominguez of Morenci; 15 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren; three brothers, Arturo (Dorothy)Castaneda of Fayetteville, NC, Armando Castaneda of Bullhead City, and Ray (Dee) Castaneda of Clifton; five sisters, Josephine Ruiz of Clifton, Millie Starr of Clifton, Natalia Magallanes, Sophia Zazueta, Linda Thibodeau, and Carol Castaneda all of CA; two brothers-in-laws, Manuel (Mary) Rodriguez of Clifton and Juan (Rosie) Rodriguez of Phoenix; sister-in-law, Katie (Leo)Morales of Clifton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eva Merino, and his beloved Poodle "Perlita:.
Rosary was recited on Saturday, December 3, 2011 followed by mass of a Christian Burial, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
