Jose R. Chavez Joe Devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joe R. Chavez, 89, died peacefully at home from natural causes September 5, 2008 in West Valley City, Utah. Born October 18, 1918 in Montrose, Colorado, son of Felix and Estefanita Trujillo Chavez. Married Margaret Matta November 19, 1945 in Montrose, Colorado. He served in the Calvary during WWII from March 11, 1941 - September 15, 1945 and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX. Member of the Catholic Church where he served at St. Frances Knights of Columbus. Survived by wife, Margaret; children: Josephine Day, Hope Chavez, Joe (Rita) Chavez, Margaret (Greg) Goddard, Anselmo Chavez, Lewis (Jenette) Chavez and Raynalda Chavez; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Roseann and son, Frank. A viewing will be held Monday, September 8, 2008, 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3560 West 3650 South where a viewing will be held, 9-9:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
