Jose Cervantez Lozano, 72, of Safford, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Mesa, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1939 in Morenci, to Ismael Lozano and Guadalupe Cervantez. Jose grew up in the Morenci area and graduated from Morenci High School in 1957. Joined the U.S. Army in 1958- 1960. After he returned he met Irene Porto in San Manuel and they married in 1962. He went to work for the Pima Mine in Tucson. Moved to Safford in 1979 and went to work for Phelps Dodge. He retired in 1997. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and go to the casino and dog races. He moved to Mesa to live with his daughter in 2005. Jose loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed watching his two grandsons, Nick & Alex play football, baseball and wrestle on Saturdays. Jose was an Avid Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Wildcats Fan. He is survived by sons, Jimmy (Kimberly) Lozano of Safford, and Tommy Lozano of Tucson; and a daughter, Angela (David) Sanchez of Mesa; Siblings, Lupita Cardova of Tucson, Eppie Romero of Tucson, Margaret Kirkendall of Tucson, Cecilia Pena of Tucson, Ismael "Milo" Lozano of Morenci, Robert Lozano of Tucson, and Emily "Milly" (Rick) Patrick of Verde Lee; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, and his son Joseph. Family will receive friends for viewing at 10 am on Saturday, August 27, Rosary will be recited at 11 am, and Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as Celebrant, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
