Jose "Robert" Vidales, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Safford. Born on October 9, 1974, Jose was known for his unwavering positivity and infectious smile that brightened the lives of all who knew him.
Having graduated from Morenci High School in 1993, Jose navigated life with resilience despite facing physical challenges that prevented him from pursuing a traditional career. Instead, he found joy in his hobbies and interests, dedicating time to watching Pro Wrestling, passionately supporting the Arizona Cardinals and Notre Dame teams, indulging in movies, bowling, reading, and cherishing moments with loved ones.
Among the fondest memories shared by those who knew Jose was his enthusiastic act of shaving his head when Stone Cold triumphed over The Rock at WrestleMania Seven. His spirit of perseverance was evident through his proudest accomplishments – his sons Jerod (Trinity Gonzalez), Derrick (Eunice), and Austin (Belle Verhelst) - whom he often referred to as the best thing that ever happened to him. To them he always said: "keep pushing."
In his journey of life, Jose found strength and support in his family. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Raquel Nabor and grandfather Refugio Nabor, as well as grandmother Duby Vidales and grandfather Victor Vidales. He is survived by his father Andres Espinoza Vidales; mother Ellen Nabor McKenzie and step-father Edgar McKenzie; brothers Andrew Vidales and Roy Vidales; sister Angel Lopez; grandchildren Rhaea Vidales, Amora Vidales, Alani Vidales, Mallaki Verhelst, and Clover Vidales; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Jose "Robert" Vidales touched the hearts of many with his kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for those around him. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the profound impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory continue to inspire love and positivity in our hearts forevermore.
