Josefina Paz, 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, in Tucson. Services will be conducted on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morenci. A Rosary service will begin at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Josefina was born February 12, 1918 in Mesilla Park, New Mexico and enjoyed collecting Native American Artifacts. She was a fantastic cook, with many specialties and favorite recipes. She was well known for canning of green chile and fruit. Josefina served in the US Air Corp during WWII as a Administrative Clerk. Upon returning home she dedicated herself to caring for her parents and other family members. Josefina worked as an Accounting Clerk for P.D. Mercantile, cashier at Sanitary Market, and an admin clerk for Greenlee County Health Dept. She never married or had children of her own; she stressed education to all of her nieces and nephews as they grew up. She provided opportunities to ensure they received the highest level of education possible. She also insisted that they excel in whatever field they pursued. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose (Daddy Joe) and Maria (Mama Cuca) Paz and her 8 brothers Max, Julio, Mike (Lito), Ignacio (Nacho), Carlos, Tommy, Louie and Tony. She is survived by her brother Tanis and many nieces and nephews.
