MSgt. Joseph J. David, Ret. 1930 ~ 2008 Joseph John David, Sr. passed away peacefully October 22, 2008 at his home in West Jordan, Utah. He was born in Scranton, PA to Ignatius and Josephine David. Joe had a distinguished military career spanning 30 years in the United States Army. His military travels began in PA, through many states and foreign countries and he proudly served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Joe earned numerous meritorious honors retiring in Salt Lake City in 1978 as a Master Sergeant. He has been living in West Jordan since 1980. Joe was a charter member of the West Jordan Senior Center and he started calling Bingo using a childs Bingo game. He also enjoyed taking occasional trips with the seniors as well as overnight trips to Wendover, Nevada with his wife. One of his favorite comments was, I cant walk but I sure can drive. Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jannie David. He leaves behind three children: Karen Jensen, Wasilla, AK; Joseph (Mary Beth) David Jr., Cromwell, CT; Andrew (Pamela) David, Sacramento, CA; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Gramps. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27th, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park. A memorial service will also be held Monday, 5-7 p.m. at the West Jordan Senior Center, 8025 South 2200 West.
