Julia Linford Monson 1925 2008 Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Julia May Linford Monson, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 16, 2008, at age 83, after an extended illness. Julia was born June 13, 1925 in Oakland, California, the only daughter of William Blood and Vernal Christina Johnson Parkinson Linford. She met the love of her life, John Daniel Monson, during World War II and they were married October 28, 1944 in Oakland, California. They were sealed a year later in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in October. Julia loved the gospel and was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many ward and stake callings throughout her life, including Primary president, Young Womens presidency and Danish name extractor for 19 years. She loved to travel with her husband and family throughout Europe and United States, and especially enjoyed Hawaii and Alaska. Her most treasured activities were being with her family and for years she baked cakes for family gatherings on Sunday evenings. She also loved her flowers and her garden. Julia will be dearly missed by her husband, John Daniel; daughter, Marilyn Boekweg; son, John Daniel Jr. (Susan) Monson; grandchildren: Richard (Becky) Boekweg, Jennifer (Brian) Jacobs, Scott (Janelle) Boekweg, Emily (Brant) Barney, Darren (Sheena) Boekweg, Steven Monson, Kristi (Brian) Godfrey, and Jonathan Monson (serving a mission in Brazil); 13 great-grandchildren: Allison, Amanda, Madelyn, Adam, Noah, Julianna, Nathan, Tyson, Sarah, Ian, Kaitlyn, Hunter, and Clara; brother, Roy (Charmaine) Linford; brother-in-law, William (Carroll) Monson; sister-in-law, Carolyn (John) Neal; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; son, William Michael; brother, William Linford, and sons-in-law, Ronald Boekweg and Leon Pulsipher. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008, 12:00 noon at the Taylorsville 27th Ward, 2976 West 4270 South. A viewing will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 6-8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and Thursday at the church, 11:00-11:45. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
