J.D. Rusty Foster, 84, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning July 6, 2014 in York Valley. J.D. was born in Wingate, Texas to Joshua Dee and Lonita Self Foster in 1929, one of five boys. During the dustbowl and depression the Fosters left their dairy farm and moved to Imperial Valley, California to work the hay fields. At 17 Rusty joined the Marines and toured Korea; it was there he developed his love for flying. After he returned he married Barbara Smith, moved to El Paso Texas, and raised his five children while driving the hook-and-ladder truck for the El Paso Fire Department. Throughout his life J.D. worked several jobs: he worked as a truck driver, a heavy equipment operator, a journeyman electrician, and a fireman. After retiring, he established B & R Heating, Cooling, Insulation, and Electrical. In 1993 he fell in love with the York Valley in Arizona and decided to relocate. In life Rusty enjoyed fixing things and flying his airplane over the Gila river valley. While fishing in 1998, he got luckier than usual and met his second wife Letha. He was a member of NRA and the American Legion and was a contributor to the Disabled Veterans Association. He will be remembered as a loving, caring father, husband, and friend, and he will be deeply missed. J.D. Foster is survived by his wife Letha Foster, daughters Peggy Giesecke, Berniece Bennett, and Rebecca Stallard, his son Charlie Foster, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren,. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Dee Foster and his daughter Patrica Jean Wiles.
