Justin Lee Failner 1971 ~ 2008 Our loving husband, daddy, son, brother and uncle, Justin Lee Failner, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2008 at home. Born January 12, 1971 to George L. and Kathleen J. Failner. Married the love of his life, Ivy Anne Tolman, December 18, 1993 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Filled an LDS mission to Puerto Rico, graduated from Westminster College and received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah. Was a licensed social worker and loved working with people and helping them make improvements in their lives. Was Program Manager for Salt Lake County Division of Youth Services for several years. Lived life with optimism and dignity despite significant challenges and limitations. Spent his life in the service of others and sought to make a difference in the lives of others for good through his vocation and service rendered at work, family and in the community. Loved Jesus Christ, sought to emulate Him. Loved the scriptures. Served faithfully in a variety of callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a variety of organizations including Elders Quorum President, Nursery Leader, Executive Secretary, Sunday School teacher, Young Mens and most recently as a counselor in the bishopric. Served faithfully until the end despite significant chronic pain associated with his illness. Survived by his wife, Ivy; children: Isaac and Elizabeth; mother, Kathleen; parents-in-law, Brent and Laura Tolman; brother, Eric (Gale) Failner; brother-in-law, Ben Tolman; grandmother, Ina Failner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 12:00 noon at the Valley Park 1st Ward, 4986 South Valois Drive (2305 West). A viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and on Tuesday from 10:45-11:40 a.m. at the church. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery
