Karen Johnson

Karen Grace Johnson, 73, of Safford, passed away on December 7, 2016 in Safford with her family by her side. Karen was born in Lake Park, Iowa to John and Johanna Tjoland on March 28, 1943. She spent her childhood and school years in Roundlake, Minnesota. In 1962, she moved to the Gila Valley where she settled, raised her family, and has resided ever since. While here, she graduated from Eastern Arizona College. Her hobbies included belly dancing, sewing, knitting, cross stitching, quilting, painting, and loving her family. Karen is preceded in death by her daughter Johnna Mary Johnson, her parents John and Johanna Tjoland, and brother Gary Tjoland. Karen is survived by her sons Lonnie Johnson, Timothy Johnson, and Terry (Tami Bingham) Johnson, her brother Larry Tjoland, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren whom all loved her and will miss her dearly. The family of Karen wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Catherine Romero and the hospice staff involved in her care. Graveside memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. , on Friday, January 6, 2017, the Gila Valley Memorial Gardens.
