Karen Emily Sackett 1974 ~ 2008 Karen Emily Sackett, our beloved daughter, granddaughter, step-sister, niece, aunt and cousin, passed away on July 3, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She fought a long hard battle with a disorder called, Mitochondria Myopathy Encephalopathy Lactic Acidosis or MELAS. Karen was born October 1, 1974 in Salt Lake City, daughter of Byra Guy and Sherri Joy Sackett. Karens fundamental years were spent in West Valley City, Utah. She graduated from Cyprus High School and continued her education for a short time at Salt Lake Community College. She worked at the Sears Call Center until her first stroke in 1996. Karen loved her family. Her treasures in life included her special uncles, holding our families babies, her cat and her dogs, each picture she was given by family and friends, her endless collection of stuffed animals and any memorabilia from the U of U. Karen lived for the yearly bets between her dad, Uncle Lynn and herself during rivalry games between the U of U and BYU. We want to thank all the special people who cared for Karen at the Danville Womens Center, Sunbrook Hospice and The Residence Care Source Hospice Hospital. Karen is survived by her father, Byra Guy Sackett, her step-mother, Donna; grandfather, Gene Orr; step-brothers, Trever (Danielle) Glore, Rodney Glore and Justin Glore; nieces and a nephew; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by her Grandfather Sackett; brother, Layland Ross Sackett; sister, April Korine Sackett; mother, Sherri Joy Seares Sackett; Grandmother and Grandfather Seares; Grandmother Orr. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. A viewing will be Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Grantsville Cemetery
