Kate Chavez

Catalina Kate Delgado Chavez, 81 of Verde Lee passed away at her home on September 11, 2010. Kate was born March 19, 1929 in Morenci, Arizona. She married Frank Chavez on March 20, 1957 in Morenci. Frank was a widower with three young children and Kate raised them as her own. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, bowling, eating hot chile and most of all spending time with her family. Kate was active at Holy Cross Catholic Church in the Alter and Rosary Society, Choir and as a CCD teacher. Kate is survived by her husband Frank Chavez, children Sharon Bigdelou, Frank R. Chavez, Della Cabral, Mary Bell Salazar, Bernie Chavez, Michael Chavez, Anna Hanson, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and sister Elvira Espinoza. She was preceded in death by parents Citriano & Juanita Delgado, brother Rubin Delgado, sisters Mary Louise Delgado Josephine Delgado & Mary Delgado and granddaughter Crystal. Rosary service will be held on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Holy Cross Church in Morenci. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
