Kathy Lamkin, 67, of Virden, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford. She was born on July 26, 1945 in Lordsburg, NM, to Iven and Nancy Thygerson. Kathy graduated from Duncan High School in 1963. She attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces for two years and transferred to Western New Mexico University in Silver City. She then went to work for the Hidalgo County Extension Office, and then in August 1974 went to work for the Duncan District. She earned her Bachelors Degree at the University of Phoenix, in Business Management. She retired in October 2002, to enjoy her family. She was a member of the Duncans Womans Cub and went to become the president of the club and later became the state president of the Womans Club. She loved to share her experiences of traveling with her family for the Womans Club. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her son, Ryan Thygerson of Safford; grandchildren, Khrystyne Thygerson of Safford, and Karlee and Dalton Thygerson of Tonganoxie, Kansas; great-grandson Preston Himpel of Tonganoxie, Kansas; sisters (Cindy) Johnny Frie of Virden, and Julie (Ed) Barlow of Duncan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Desiree; parents Iven and Nancy Thygerson; and brother, Randy Thygerson. Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Duncan Stake LDS Stake Center. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Virden Cemetery.
