Konisi Vaka Hosea December 20, 1926 October 24, 2008 Vaka, loving husband, father and grand father, returned home on Friday, October 24, 2008. Born December 20, 1926 in Nukualofa, Tonga. He lived a life of service to his family and church. He married his eternal companion, Tolofi Levila Muti, on December 16, 1959 in the New Zealand Temple. In 1956 1959 he served a full time mission for the LDS church in Tongatapu, Tonga. During his mission he was instrumental in organizing Pangai, Haapai Middle School with Elder John Groberg and Saineha Middle School in Vavau with Brother Christiansen. He was later called to serve with his wife on several missions: Folaha, Tonga 1971; Jackson, Mississippi Mission from 1995 to 1997, Tongatapu, Tonga Mission from 1998 to 1999 and again in Tonga from 2001 - 2002. They loved serving the Lord together. They also served in the Salt Lake City Temple as temple workers. He was a hard worker, and still found time to attend his grandchildrens football games; Isi Sofele, Asi Hosea, Nadan Hosea, Konisi Hosea, Kingston Liavaa, Kami Sofele - Cottonwood High School, Mosese Lotulelei -Brighton High School, Inoke Lotulelei - Brighton little league; Gabriel Hosea - Highland little league. He was loved by all who knew him and will definitely be missed. We stood on the shoulder of a giant. Our father carried us on his shoulders so we could see further then he could ever see. Konisi Vaka is survived by his wife Tolofi and children; Charles Woodworth (Uinise Malu); Elenoa (Haloti Moala-Liavaa) Nadan (Nelsia Raihauti); Kay (Tevita Lotulelei); Langi (Huihui Sofele), Semisi Hosea and Sione Pua, as well as 34 precious grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters. Special thanks to Annette, Kim and Tanya, the nurses who cared for him. Funeral services will be Monday, October 27, 2008 10:00 a.m. at the Winder 3rd Ward, 1250 East 4530 South. A viewing will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and on Monday from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
