LaNell Maynard

August 2, 1915 — December 16, 2007

LaNell Rothwell Maynard LaNell Rothwell Maynard was born in Springville, Utah on her mothers birthday August 2, 1915. She passed peacefully away on Sunday morning, December 16, 2007. She always used to say that there are few around who remember the first cars on the streets, the first telephones and the first light bulbs. She remembered them well. She went to school in Springville and then would help work the family potato farm near Arco, Idaho in the summers. She said she lived so long because she was raised on fresh farm food and milk. It was in Arco that she met handsome, Cecil James Maynard the love of her life. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14, 1936. During the Great Depression she was one of the lucky ones to have a job. She was Deputy Clerk of the District Court in Butte County, Idaho. She worked until just before she gave birth to her first child then she became a full time homemakerand what a home she madeHer white bread was legendary! Her sewing and crocheting skills were beyond compare. She won Salt Lake County Sweepstakes and Utah State blue ribbons for her exceptional quilting. What made her home however was her peaceful nature, her joyful giggle, her selfless service, and her endless love for her husband, children and grandchildren. What made her life was her unwavering testimony of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her treasured membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was blessed to have worked in the Primary organization for over 40 years. She loved visiting teaching and going to church faithfully every week. She spoke with fond memories of her friends in Springville and her former home in Lander, Wyoming. She dearly loved her neighbors in Murray, Utah and those near her new home in Bountiful. She thanks them all. She leaves behind three children Lyle James Maynard (Jackie), Kay Leon Maynard (Shirley) and Sally Dietlein (Mark). She cherished her 40 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves a beloved sister, Ellen Anderson and two brothers Ken Rothwell (Elaine) and Lyman Rothwell. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, daughters Marcia and a still born twin, a brother, Ted Rothwell and a sister, Florence Schultz. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 20, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Mueller Park 9th Ward, 1800 East Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT and also on Thursday, at the church,1010:45 am prior to services. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah. Blessed is this peacemaker.
