Larry Bailon Serna, 61, of Clifton, AZ, entered into eternal rest on Friday June 14, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Morenci, AZ, on February 10, 1952 to Antonio and Amelia Serna. Larry attended elementary through high school in Morenci, graduating from MHS in 1970. He was employed by Greenlee County Sheriffs Department for over 28 years, serving as a Detention Officer, until his retirement in July of 2012. He was a member of the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department, Greenlee County Search and Rescue, Sacred Heart Parish in Clifton and the Beneficio Propio. In 1986 he met and fell in love with Genny Castaneda of Clifton. They were married in 1990 and from this union they were blessed with a son, Miguel. Larry was also a loving father to Larry Jr., from a previous marriage, and his step-children Billy Serna and Melody Gonzalez. Larry loved many things, most of all family and friends. Another of his passions was his neatly kept yard. He also loved oldies but goodies, Mexican music, vintage vehicles, cruising, BBQs, and the memories of his childhood in Old Morenci. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Genny, his sons, stepchildren and six grandchildren. Also surviving Larry is his brother Tony Serna of Tucson, two sisters Berta (Ronnie) Manuz of Clifton, and Tina (Steve) Cervantez of York. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Jose Titi Castaneda, his paternal grandparents Melicio Serna and Maria Espinoza, maternal grandparents Manuel and Anastasia Bailon. Because of the wonderful person he was, Larry will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the many lives he touched while serving his community. We will miss his infectious smile and unique laugh, but mostly the love and friendship he shared with us each day of his life. He never met a stranger instead was a friend to all. Larry Thank you for being a great husband and father. We will truly miss you. Till we meet again. We love you.
