LaVar Virgil Smith Smitty A man of honor Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, passed away December 14, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. Smitty was born January 14, 1935 in Thornton, Idaho to George and Marguerite Smith. He married Patricia Fredrickson June 1, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had three children. Patty passed away in 1981. He then married Rosalye McCann August 25, 1982. They were later sealed. He was blessed to have two special loves in his life. He was a bus driver, realtor, and salesman, but he was also a teacher, counselor and mentor to his family and friends. He loved to sing, yodel and play his guitar. He was an active member of the LDS Church and had many callings. Survived by his wife Rosalye; sons, Mike (Patty) Smith and Rick Smith; daughter, Karen (Ron) Powell; stepchildren: Randy Yeates, Laura (Dennis) Cuff, Darrell (Leslie) Yeates, Tina (John) Hatch, Matt (Julie) Yeates; 28 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brother, Gary Smith; and sister, Betty (Red) Hall. Preceded in death by his first wife, Patty; parents; brothers: Al and Wayne; sisters: Marilyn and Verda. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Katkuri, Love Health Care, and the staff at Alta View Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007,11:00 am at the Cresent 16th Ward, 10600 South 275 East. A viewing will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Logan City Cemetery
