Leander Johnson, Jr., lovingly known as Akeem, was born on May 11, 1986, in Phoenix, Arizona. He left this world unexpectedly on November 26, 2024, in the vibrant community of San Carlos, Arizona, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories and the warmth of family who cherished him deeply.
Akeem’s journey began at Ft. Thomas Elementary School, where the foundations of his learning were laid before he bravely pursued his GED. Though he walked the halls of education with determination, it was his ventures beyond the classroom that defined him. A dedicated Security Guard for the San Carlos Apache Medical Center, his career was not merely a job but a calling – one that encapsulated his desire to protect and serve his community with unwavering commitment.
To many, Akeem was more than a name; he was a beacon of joy. His love for music resonated through the strings of his guitar, serenading friends and family alike. Whether strumming a favorite tune or belting out a song with heartfelt passion, he infused every moment with melody and spirit. Akeem's penchant for music was matched only by the tremendous love he had for his family. His heart was a boundless space, filled with laughter, familial warmth, and the vivacious spirit of five grandchildren who adored their loving granddaddy.
Family meant the world to Akeem. He leaves behind his cherished mother, Karen Rambler, and siblings: Karena Johnson, Harrelson & Clarissa Johnson, and Laurisa Johnson. Each family member carries his essence, enriched with memories blooming from shared laughter and unconditional love. Not to be forgotten is Geronimo, his adored pet, who accompanied him on countless adventures, embodying the joy and companionship that Akeem valued.
Akeem's legacy will be celebrated through visitations, funeral services, and a heartfelt burial at Black Point Cemetery on December 7, 2024. The visitation will take place at the Rambler residence in Bylas on December 6, starting at 4 PM, followed by an earnest funeral service at the Lighthouse Assembly of God at 11 AM the next day, culminating in a solemn farewell at 2 PM.
In remembering Akeem, we also honor the life of his father, Leander Johnson, Sr., who preceded him in death, ensuring that the bonds of love continue to transcend time and space.
As those who loved him gather to reminisce and celebrate his life, may Akeem Johnson's memory forever echo through heartstrings and family gatherings - a testament to a life lived fully, embraced tenderly, and missed profoundly.
