Leo Howell 1926 ~ 2010 Our loving husband, brother, dad, grandpa, great- grandpa, uncle and friend, completed his earthly mission and passed away 2 July, 2010, after a 25 year battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 1 August, 1926, to Richard S. Howell and Signa Elizabeth Fikstad, the third child of nine children. Leo served in US Navy from Aug 1944 to June 1946 in the South Pacific aboard the U. S. S Barnwell. Following his military service he was called to serve in the Louisiana Texas mission. Leo married Annie Jane Edwards in the Salt Lake City Temple on 13 April, 1949. Leo and Annie had four children, Taunya Lund (Greg), Patsy Richards (Rex), Brent "Skip" (Teri), and David (Cathy). Leo's career was in the construction industry. He learned the carpentry trade from his father. He worked with his brothers, for himself, and with his sons and sons- in- laws. Leo enjoyed serving in the LDS church and held many positions. Most of all he enjoyed serving in the Temple. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Annie, 15 Jan 1998. He later married Alice Marie Higbee, 7 Jan, 1999. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: Dale and Ted; and great-grandson, Thomas Lund. Leo is survived by his wife, Alice; his children, brother, Richard (Geraldine); sisters: RaNay Debenham, (Howard); LaWana Thompson, (Merlin); Colleen Steed; sisters-in- law: Nora (Dale) and Karla (Ted); 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Friday, 9 July 2010, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Murray, UT, Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10 July 2010, 11:00 am. at the LDS Chapel located at 4635 W. Harman Drive (3700 S) where a viewing will be held, 10-10:45 a.m. preceding the funeral Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W 4100 So., West Valley City, UT.
