Leroy Cisneros

David Leroy Cisneros, 63, passed away at his home surrounded by family in Yuma, AZ, on March 27, 2012. David was born on September 25th, 1948, in Morenci, AZ. to Theodore Cisneros and Cora Lopez. David graduated from Morenci High School in 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the Marine Corps as part of the Morenci Nine, who all joined as part of the buddy system. He served four years, with one tour of duty in Vietnam, and was one of only three that survived the war. He then returned to Morenci after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps where he worked for Phelps Dodge for eleven years. He also earned his Associates Degree from Eastern Arizona College. He moved back to Yuma in 1982, where he soon began working at Yuma Proving Grounds as a Gunner until he retired in 2005. David enjoyed hunting, trout fishing in the White Mountains, football, baseball, basketball, listening to music, designing and building different wood projects, traveling, and spending time with the grandchildren and family. David was preceded in death by his Daughter, Roxanne, Parents Theodore and Cora Cisneros, Sister Barbara, and Brother Teddy Cisneros. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gloria Tilla Cisneros; sons David (Janet), Robert, and Theodore; daughter in law Stacy Cisneros; grandchildren Jacob, Breanna, Jocelyn, Brandon, Adam, and Aiden Cisneros; sisters Dora (Ed) Zappia, Marcela (Herman) Medina, and Gloria Molina as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Joe Sorrelman, Jimmy Martinez, Manual Urrea, Oscar Urrea, Juan Aparicio, and Rick Aparicio. Honorary Pallbearers are Ed Zappia, Herman Medina, Herman Medina Jr., Victor Medina, Adrian Molina, Larry Molina, Rueben Molina, Marvin Molina, Anthony Cantu, Leonard Cantu, Alonso Cisneros, Arnold Pina, Thomas Fernandez, Benny Fernandez, Anthony Montalvo, and Joe Valles. The family would also like to thank family and friends for all their support and a special thanks to the Veterans Hospital in Tucson, AZ, Davita Dialysis, and Hospice Compassus of Yuma AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Viewing will be on Monday, April 2, from 9:00- 11:00a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. Final interment will be in the Safford Cemetery
