Lidia Barrios

Lidia Lily R. Barrios, 86, of Safford, passed away May 2, 2015. Lily was born August 9, 1928 in Solomon, AZ to Ascencion and Mariana Rios. Lily attended schools in the Gila Valley and graduated from Morenci High School in 1947 where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Mike Barrios. They later married in Alaska and because Mike had joined the U.S. Air Force, were stationed in several states and also had the pleasure of living in Japan. After retiring in San Francisco from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. Colonel, they made their way back and settled in Safford where they called home for the past 20 years. Lily was a homemaker who loved to bake and she was known for her delicious fruit cakes. She also enjoyed bowling and being around people especially her family. Lily loved and found pleasure in helping those in need. She was grateful for her marriage to Mike and getting to live a beautiful life with him. Lily is survived by her sisters; Dalia Lopez, Tillie (Fernando) Gonzales and Christine (Robert) DeLeon, brothers; Ascencion Pelon (Virginia) Rios and Ramon Moni Rios and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Barrios, parents Mariana and Ascencion Rios, Sr., sister Belia DeLeon and brother Angel Lito Rios. Rosary will be led at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Robert Rodriguez officiating, followed by a luncheon. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Morenci at 3:00 p.m.
