Live Q. Saucedo was born in Clifton Arizona on October 4, 1919, to Teresa Quintana and Julio Saucedo. He graduated from Lordsburg High School in 1938. His brief college career was interrupted by the outbreak of WWII. Live was called to active duty with other local young men and served with the Army Infantry in the Pacific theater where he was hit by grenade shrapnel at Ryukyus Island near Okinawa Japan. For his honorable service Live was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, the Bronze Star medal, American Campaign medal, Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal, WWII Victory medal,Meritorious Unit Emblem, and the award he was most proud of the Combat Infantryman Badge. Being the sole survivor of his platoon haunted him throughout his life. After the war he returned to Clifton and fell in love with the beautiful Anna Bailon whom he married in Safford in 1948. As he started his career at Phelps Dodge mine Live and Anna built their own home in Shannon Hill and began their family of eleven children. The family eventually grew to include 29 grandchildren and one great great grandchildren who were all a great source of pride and joy to Live. Live was well know in town for his refrigeration knowledge often working to fix cooler problems for local businesses on his time off from the mine. Live had a knack for fixing and repairing and building things. His intellectual curiousity challenged him to build furniture, repair car engines and maintain his busy home. We all remember him as a patient and loving husband, fatherand grandfather and his passing leaves a huge void in our family and all our hearts.
